‘All the Buildings in NY’ by James G. Hancock

An attempt to draw all 900,000 buildings in New York by James Gulliver Hancock, an illustrator originally from Australia currently based in Brooklyn, New York. ( he must have met with Jose Guizer from “Windown of New-York“)
“My style is kind of cute and colorful, which keeps the drawings from ending up being monolithically scary. I especially love drawing brownstones because they are all slightly different, even if they look the same. That’s what is so great about drawing these buildings over and over again. I start to notice subtleties that were lost on me before.”
This project stems from an interest in obsession and recording of places. New York holds a special place in everyone’s heart, romanticized from Seasame Street and old movies like Rear Window and Breakfast at Tiffany’s. “All The Buildings in New-York” blog records an attempt to make the city personal by passing a pen over every structure, hopefully making up for the time not spent in New York.
So far James drew more than 500 buildings – all of them are available on a thick are paper 30X50 cm for 50$ each .

כמובן שהפרוייקט הזה הזכיר לי את הפרוייקט “חלונות ניו יורק” עליו כתבתי בעבר ובו הגרפיקאי חוזה גוייזר הבטיח לתעד כל חלון בניו – יורק.
